Hello,
I'm planning to go to Slovenia by train.
I take the train in Genova to Milano and Venezia.
How it's work for the bike? I read you must disassemble and put the bike in a bag??
Has anyone done this trip by train + bike recently?
Thank you so much
Christine

Hello i am Davide from Italy, So the way you are headed too GENOVA MILANO then MILANO VENEZIA, as a lot of opportunity to travels by bicyle.
First and the most used by ciclyst is use the REGIONAL train , in italian Treni Regionali, there are a lot of them on those directions. need pay 3.5 euro for 24 hour ticket for biciclye
Where are the wagons bicycle,? Once time was or in head or at then of train. So check the train you will see the simbol on the train wagon , LATELY on the new wagon there are more wagons with possibility to put the bikes, also with charge for E bike.
There ara a faster train called INTERCITY TRAIN but need the reservation for the trip and cost more.REGIONAL TRAIN IN timetable has the simbol R (REGIONALE) or RV (REGIONALE VELOCE) and in time table as the bike simbol or find under the I INFORMAIONT web timetable ,
Good travel
Grazie Mile Davide,
Thanks a lot for your interesting answer.
I took a mistake... I wanted to say "GENEVA" in Switzerland.
THe final goal is to go in Slovenia.
I undersdood that train from Switzerland to Milano is an INTERNATIONAL train but do you think there is an intercity train? perhaps there is a railway station in Italy very close to the border of Switzerland or France? allowing to take an intercity train?
Bardonecchia?
Have a good day
Christine

Flixbus sometimes carries bikes. See if there is a bus from Geneva to Milan, then take the Italian regional train. By the way, Bardonecchia is on the Italian-French border, it's not near Switzerland.
Hello Helen,
Thank you for your feedback.
Have a nice summer in Savoie
