Forum search inconsistencies

I mentioned this in another thread a while ago [ https://www.warmshowers.org/comment/16993#comment-16993 ] but should've started a new topic.

When searching the forums the string 'type=forum' appears before the search terms - this is still limiting the results, if it is removed one often gets more forum posts (as well as references etc...)
