Hi. Yes, you are not the first person to suggest that taking the bike on a train in Sweden might be problematic. Might have to rethink that section of the route... When do you set off?

Local trains and local buses

Local trains and local buses (regional) in Sweden often accept bikes

Thanks Piotr. Is it possible

Thanks Piotr. Is it possible to take local trains all the way from Lulea to Stockholm?

How could I know?

How could I know?

What I know is that you can travel by regional train Öresundtåg from Copenhagen to Karlskrona (Sweden). Öresundtåg have dedicated space for bicycles. You can buy your tickets at the station in Copenhagen. (a bicycle ticket= ½ standard ticket). In Karlskrona you can always ask how to precede farther.

Do you know that low price Airbaltic has flights Copenhagen - Tallinn? It accepts bicycles. And Ryanair to Kaunas?

Yes, that’s right, if a bus

Yes, that’s right, if a bus has a bike carrier outside on its back, you don’t need to dismantle it.  I wonder whether Flixbus marks out in the booking forms what sort of bike transport each bus allows.

Flixbus

There is a Umea Stockholm fixbus

When you look for you select on passenger plus one bike

If there is a bike rack you get an offer with price

If not the bus seems full

So you can take your your bike as luggage in the baggage compartiment  ( prepare to.deasmantle and wrap )

For Umea Stockholm I think the bus will not have. a bike rack ( you have to check again summer time as I could be different )

Stockholm Copenhagen for ex seems to have bike racks as you can book ticket with bike

Flixbus

To be on a safe side try to contact company´s customer serice and check with it what sort of transportation the bus you have chosen provides

my experiences

Hi ... nice plan

The ferry from Kiel to Klaipeda is realy relaxing and in 2019 i paid only 125 € for a one-way-ticket for me, my bike, two meals and a real bed in a four-person-cabin. took 19 hours.

Another option could be:

cross Germany by train up to Szczecin (PL); Szczecin is the last trainstation belonging to the german railway-net. From Szczecin start cycling along the polish coast ... realy nice, new bikepaths most of the way ... make a loop around Kaliningrad always close to the boarder up to Silute. Take a small ferry to Neringa (Nida) and cycle along the coast again ... funtastic 50 km ... you'll enjoy ! ... up to the city of Klaipeda ... worth to spend a few days there

the polish coast is much nicer than the german ... could give you endless informations about cycling in Poland

Sczczecin -> Klaipeda (by bike): ~ 1000 km

Information about cycling in Poland

Hi Frank;

Any advice that you could give on cycling in Poland and also in Lithuania, Lettonia, Estonia?

Thanks a lot in advance,

Ando

Distance between Klaipeda and Turku

Hi Andrew, nice plan. By chance do you have the distance between Klaipeda and Turku.

I am planning to go to North Cape and still not sure about if I am doing it by Danemark or by Poland and Latvia...

Thank you

Ando

Good luck with your own trip...

Best wishes
